Great paddle for the mixer
I bought this because the paddle that came with my 6qt KitchenAid mixer is NOT dishwasher safe but this one is. I like how it scrapes the sides of the bowl to get better mixing. Before I had to scrape down the sides because, of course, the metal paddle doesn’t touch the sides. So far it’s held up well and I will never go back to the other one.

Awesome invention for mixers!
This mixer blade is the best thing I have ever had for my cakes and icings ! I hate having to stop and scrape the bowl down during mixing and with this swiping attachment I do not have to! It cleans the sides and bottom as it mixes! You won’t regret this purchase!

Have to scrape the beater.
Wow, it looks really cool, and you don’t have to scrape the bowl anymore. However, I find I have to stop and scrape the beater! This is because the stubby blades retain material, and the body is so big that stuff accumulates on it. Just this morning while creaming butter with it, I noticed half of my butter got stuck on the inside of the beater with out mixing and wouldn’t come off. With all those projections on it, the whole beater retains a lot of material so you have to take the time to scrape it with your fingers if you don’t want to waste up to a half cup of your mixture! Very disappointed to find it was made in China. I just don’t trust Chinese made products, especially when they come in contact with my food. I went back to the original beater blade that came with my KitchenAid stand mixer.

Improved sleep and comfort for this pregnant gal
I was a little hesitant about purchasing this product regarding a few of the issues some reviews mentioned (price, quality, seam, size), but now that I have used it I am incredibly glad I bought it. I am 6 months pregnant, 5′7” and have a fairly slender build and sleep on a queen size bed with my husband.

Here are the things I love about this pillow:

1. My overall sleep time has increased and deep sleep has improved. I think this is because the pillow hugs all around my body and I can roll over without adjusting 4 pillows. Now I don’t even have to move the pillow, it is already where it needs to be.

2. Before pregnancy I always slept on my back and the switch to side sleeping has been incredibly difficult. This pillow has helped me feel comfortable on my side as well as offer kind of an in-between back and side position. Also, it has kept me from rolling on my back naturally while I sleep, which has been most helpful.

3. There are many positions to use this pillow as well as many positions you can assume with each pillow position. It also supports a growing belly very nicely.

4. I personally find the pillow stuffing to be pleasantly soft yet supportive at the same time.

5. This pillow is great for mid afternoon rests and short breaks.

6. Though it is a bit bulky it takes up only my half of the bed (queensize). My husband has not been annoyed or cramped because of it. In fact he often snuggles up against it in the night.

Cons: (minor ones at that)
1. A little pricey. But what price would you pay for a better, less miserable night of sleep.

2. Slightly rough pillowcase.

3. Less snuggle time through the night with hubby, but we can still be pretty close.

This pillow has fit my needs very well and has been worth the money.

**As an update. June 2008. This pillow has really helped me post partum. Nursing has been easier, it is very comforting to snuggle in when I’m feeling a little blue, and my body aches have been reduced thanks to it’s many support positions. I personally feel that I would not have been very comfortable without this pillow especially the last 2 months of pregnancy.

I have one additional complaint about it. the pillow case became quite nubby and even more rough in some spots (mostly the area that my feet and legs occupied).

THIS IS AWFUL
Too thick, to short, and uncomfortable. I had a different body pillow before that I loved, but didn’t want to spend $100 on a new one, so I got the cheapy based on these recommendations, I used it once and I HATE IT.
1. OVER filled so you are propped up in weird places (your head is high, and legs are high, while your center is drooping down).
2. Cover does not go back on once it is washed it is HORRIBLE. It is cut so there are larger and smaller parts on the cover, my husband and I both could not get this thing back on.
3. the curve at the neck base is sharp so you either have to have your arm over the top so you can rest your head on it or you have to scoot way down so it doesn’t cut into your shoulders.
4. Base is too thick to support your belly
5. Fluffing or flattening the pillow doesn’t work, it is stuffed to the max
5. I am 5′3 and it comes to the top of my knees on one side and if it is cutting into my shoulder in the top it will come to my lower back.
6. To keep your whole hip/let supported you need to have your legs really bent as shown the pictures.
7. It doesn’t fold up or lay neatly anywhere
8. Not breathable

Too large and hurts shoulders
I am currently six months pregnant and having trouble getting comfortable at night. After reading the rave reviews, I purchased this pillow thinking it would be so great for me. I was disappointed when I tried it. Here’s why:

1. Getting the cover on and off to wash is a real pain.

2. The curved part digs into my shoulder and really hurts. I’ve tried to stretch the cover and shove another pillow there to help but the seam just really cuts into me.

3. It is absolutely HUGE and heavy. Since I cannot really use it as intended because of the shoulder problem, I flipped it upside down so I can use it as a regular body pillow. This is OK but the end of the pillow hangs off the bed and is heavy when I try to flip over with it. I toss and turn a lot so this creates a problem.

4. This pillow makes me so hot I wake up drenched in sweat.

I would recommend something smaller and more manageable. I don’t feel that this has helped me sleep better at all. I will keep trying different positions with it to see if I can make it work since I did pay a lot for it. I can’t really return it since we’ve already used it and washed the cover.

Whoosh
Here is the scene at our house since we opened the box for this slide. My daughter climbs it, slides down while saying “weeeee”, lands perfectly on her feet, runs around to the steps, and starts all over again until she is too tired to continue… which can go on for hours.

We got this slide for her 2nd birthday. Up until we got this we got hints that she wanted a slide when she started making ghetto slides out of cardboard boxes. After doing a bit of research we settled on this slide for a few difference reasons.

1. Its big! She can grow and grow but this slide should last her for years.

2. Its solid - Out of all the reviews I could find, this slide was the most sturdy and solid of the bunch. It never feels like its going to tip over, we weighted down the base with sand as well, and the rail on the slide keeps my little princess safe.

3. Angle of the slide - Most people might not think about this but the angle at which the child slides down is important. The other similar slides we looked at had a slide that almost was a straight shoot down. This is rough on a little childs legs and gives them a huge force of impact. However this slide has a little cruve at the end which softens the impact and pushes them away from the slide. This was the tipping point for us in our decision!!!

Other nice features but not deciding factors was how you can pull the slide together to put it away and the steps have a nice grip on them for bare feet children.

The only con we have so far is that it was expensive but no more than the others in this class or similar toys. We are concerned about how much bending the plastic will do in prolonged direct sunlight but so far have had no issue there… just a watch and see deal.

In any event my daughter loves this slide and we do too. I highly recomend this to anyone for their kids!

Worth it
I had been eyeing this for a while and finally found a great deal on amazon […] It was between this slide and the Little Tikes Easystore Large Slide. After reading reviews regarding the difficulty assembling the Little Tikes Slide, ths seemed the easy choice. So far no complaints! We bought it for indoor use, so the kids can exert some energy during the months when its too cold or too hot to play outdoors.

Here are some of the perks:

You get the good with the bad on this purchase. Fortunately, the bad really isn’t so bad. It IS large, and since I bought it for indoor use we really have to open up a space in the room when we bring it out. If your plan is to use it outside then this won’t be an issue for you.

I’d say its about 5′5 when folded up. It fold ups easy and narrow. It really is meant to be hung when folded, because its doesn’t stay together. There aren’t any safety clips or anything. We have yet to hang it, so when its folded up against the wall we have to make sure its leaning or wedged in between something big so it won’t tip over.

I’ve read some complaints about the drop at the end of the slide. Yea, there is one, but I think it depends on the child how they handle it. My 1 1/2 year old doesn’t seem bothered by it. You can always slip a little pillow underneath to help.

Our only safety concern was the ladder, and this was when we first bought it 8 months ago. Our baby wasn’t yet a year and so we’d have to watch her carefully when she climbed up. All in all, this has been one of our better large toy purchases. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much use our kids have gotten out of it!

Good purchase
We really like the natural color of the slide which we have on our back deck. My husband had an easy time assembling the slide. My son is 20 months old and we do still have to be right behind him when he climbs up the steps to get on the slide. I think the older he gets the more use we will get out of it. The slide is pretty high and the top a little narrow for the my son to get his feet facing forward, but otherwise we are really pleased with this product. We are expecting our second child and I feel we will get plenty of use out of this purchase. I decided to buy this particular slide because it was less expensive than the 129.99 version which had really good ratings.

good deal - we’re happy with it
We bake a loaf about every 5 days, usually basic white or honey wheat. We’ve also made herb breads, seed breads and pizza dough. This is our first and only bread machine so we’ve nothing to compare it to, but seems great to us. The loaves are beautiful and almost always perfect - we’ve only had one loaf that didn’t turn out (don’t know why). There’s a timer that lets us set it up the night before and wake to the smell of fresh bread baking… mmmm…… The paddle does tend to take a largish chunk of bread with it when the loaf comes out of the pan. The writing is hard to read as others have said, but we use the default setting 95% of the time so we don’t have to read anything - just hit start. For an inexpensive breadmaker, it’s really great. We’ve had ours 7 months.

Horizontal Loaf Breadmaker
This Breadmaker is exactly what I had hoped for. In all my years of skirting around purchasing a Breadmaker, I never realized how easy it would be to use one and then we found this one on Amazon.com. My husband is the primary cook in our 2-member family, we are retired senior citizens, and he is very pleased. The breads are delicious and there was no trial/error period! The aroma of fresh cooking bread is so good! We find ourselves waiting anxiously for the end of the cooking cycle, slice it after it’s cooled, get out the butter/margarine and enjoy a very small piece and critique it. No failures! Good Machine
For the price, it’s a pretty good bread machine. One thing I would add is this… If you are not using the brand of yeast recommended by Breadman, your results may not be good. Their recipes were tested using Red Star Yeast Active Dry Yeast. Not all yeasts will yield the same result. Know how the yeast you’re using will perform.

I use an organic yeast, and when I used the amount recommended in the first white bread recipe, (1 Tbsp for a 2 lb loaf), the bread rose and fell. The taste was okay, but I knew when the loaf didn’t dome, that the problem was too much yeast.

I used (1 3/4 tsp of organic yeast for a 1 1/2 lb loaf) for whole wheat bread, and it came out absolutely perfect. The bread was just as good as the whole wheat bread I used to purchase at the grocery store for $3.50 a loaf. Now that I know that I have to adjust the amount of yeast since I’m not using the one tested for their recipes, I am very happy with my machine. I would not use a bread machine for quick breads because I prefer to do them by hand. I will only use my machine for yeast breads.

I have experience using bread machines and I know how my yeast performs thru trial and error. A novice would not have known that there are differences in brands of Active Dry Yeast. Also, through experience, I know that the relative humidity will affect the outcome of your bread. Check your bread while it’s kneading on a humid day to see if a little flour needs to be added, only adding a Tbsp at a time.

Very Nice Blender
BOTTOM LINE SUMMARY: This blender performs at least as well as blenders that cost 2-3 times as much, and it has more specific speed options than the more expensive blenders.

Before I begin my review, I should start out by saying that I am a bit of a blender snob, and I collect them for fun. My sole purpose in getting this blender was to see how it compared to a KitchenAid (KSB5ER4) and a Cuisinart (BFP-10CH). Also, this is an initial, first-time usage review - I will keep the review updated over time so I can attest for its longevity, consistency, etc.

That being said, I am very impressed with this blender. It is consistent with the quality that I expect from Oster. It blended the same Strawberry Banana Smoothie that I always make MUCH better than the 7-year old KitchenAid blender that I often use - no chunks whatsoever. I tested the ice crush feature, and it made mince meat out of ice in 2-3 seconds. In fact, I would dare say that it crushes ice perfectly, and faster than any of my other blenders. I also appreciate the Easy Clean feature - a definite bonus. I like the metal drive shaft MUCH better than the plastic teeth on the KitchenAid and Cuisinart - there is no guesswork as far as where/when to place the jar on top of the base; no teeth that could potentially break/wear (note: the teeth have never broken on my KitchenAid or Cuisinart, so I am just speaking about potentialities). The jar is designed for MUCH easier pouring than any other blender I have used. If you are at all concerned with the presentation/appearance of your blending results, this blender certainly delivers.

Why a 4-star instead of a 5? The plastic collar is much more fragile than other blenders I have used (also, more fragile than other Oster’s that I have seen) - in fact, I haven’t yet figured out how to get the collar off without breaking it. (Revision: I took a closer look at the bottom of the collar, and it has instructions for removing the collar - so, no problem there).

The rest of my cons are very nit-picky and may not bother most people. There is no perfect manual, but I found the manual to be overly brief - in fact, I will probably find myself referring to my vintage ’70s Osterizer pamphlets for hints - the manual and blender are largely for people who are already very familiar with blenders.

If anyone is familiar with the smell of a new blender motor, this blender (along with Cuisinart and Waring blenders) has that new motor smell if you let it run for more than 15 seconds. Personally, this does not bother me, but I have noticed that it makes some people nervous. My initial ice-crush experiment actually produced ice that was infused with the smell, but a few good cleanings should solve that problem.

The lid is not the best I have ever seen - It does have a removable cap in the center, but it is black and does not have measured lines like the Cuisinart.

Louder than the KitchenAid, but quieter than the Cuisinart.

Despite these minor things, I would highly, highly recommend this blender!

I love this blender!
I love, love, love this blender! I bought a Kitchenaid blender about 10 years ago and hated it everyday that I owned it, it finally broke so I got to buy a new one. My mom owns this Oster blender and I tested hers out before I bought it. I can not tell you how much better this blender is compared to the Kitchenaid! I can make a blended Margarita in less than 30 seconds and the ice is so smooth! After 2 minutes on the Kitchenaid the ice would be uneven and still have very big chuncks in it. This is an awesome blender and it’s a third of the price of the Kitchenaid.

My husband is a runner and makes a protein shake every morning. So when I dropped blender last night while cleaning it I knew I had to have a replacement quick!:-) I read reviews last night and decided to hit the stores to “feel” some of the competitors. Fully intending to buy a Kitchen Aid blender, I finally decided on this one because of price and its features. We wanted a glass jar and something that wasn’t too ugly since it sits out on the counter. The metal gear is so easy to use. NO wiggling the jar to get it to “sit right”.

After bringing this home and testing it with the ice I am in love. I didn’t expect much and was fully ready to return to the store if I wasn’t happy. Just as the other reviews say this thing really crushes the ice QUICKLY and so evenly. It looked like a snow cone in there. I then quickly made myself a frappuccino and sat down to write this review. LOL

I highly recommend this blender. Great quality for the money.

Speedy & cheap way to save old knives!
I’ll admit it. I’m a bad, bad knife keeper. I never, ever sharpen my knives. I tend to let them just go dull and complain about how they never cut anything ever. My husband complains bitterly about them, but I never wanted to spend $50 or $100 on an auto-sharpener that I may or may not figure out, and that may or may not work well.

So, after seeing a rave review of this manual sharpener in an old issue of Cook’s Illustrated, I decided it would be worth trying out for $13. If I could sharpen my EXTREMELY DULL knives, then I’d be happy. If it didn’t work, I was out $13.

Works like a dream! In under fifty strokes (about a minute) my lousy old knives became sharp new knives! No more sawing at tomatoes! No more slipping off of peppers! No more tearing meat! It even sharpens scissors! And for $13 it’s a bargain! The sharpener even ships with a set of replacement blades.

It’s easy to use, hard to screw up, extremely efficient, and a bargain. I would recommend this to anybody!

works great, pleasant surprise
Wow, this thing really works! Took it out of the package and I was sharpening knives in no time. Very pleasantly surprised, for all the dubious claims out there. All it takes is 5 or so strokes on the knife edge and you have a sharp blade.

Fantastic Knife Sharpener, Made in the USA, True Lifetime Warranty
This is by far the best knife sharpener I’ve ever owned. The tungsten carbide sharpener bits require only a couple of passes to restore just about any knife’s original sharpness. I tried it on half a dozen knives and the operation is quick, efficient and effortless.

The manufacturer claims that the sharpeners should last for several years but, surprise, you can get double its life by reversing the bits - all you need is to remove 2 screws, reverse the bits and then tighten the screws back. The manufacturer’s claim was persuasive enough for me to not regret saving a few bucks and actually ordering the version that does not include the replacement blades.

For non-commercial users, the manufacturer promises to fix or replace any unit for any reason if the owner returns it with $4.00 to cover postage and handling. There are no lawyery warranty exclusions or exorbitant fees or requests to provide extensive documentation. Now THAT’s what I call a honest warranty policy.

I am very happy with this purchase and I am happy to note that not all of our manufacturing went overseas. If you need a knife sharpener I just can’t see how you could get any better for the price. I’d say “go for it!”.

Perfect size for documents
I needed a fireproof safe to store important documents in. The H2300 fits the bill perfectly. It will hold A4 and Letter sized documents, and a good amount of it, too.
The only grief I have with it, is that it does not have a handle to carry it around. Maybe, because of its relatively high weight, it is not meant to be carried around, but I sure would like to have that opportunity anyway …
Other than that, it’s craftsmanship is acceptable and I expect a long use out of it.

Would buy again
This safe is great for fire and water protection in the home. This is not a safe for anti theft.
Almost did not buy beacuse of other reviews.
. It spends its life sitting on a 3 drawer file so weight and no handle is not an issue.
. It opens just fine. No knee or knife required as others have said.
I am going to buy two more as gifts.

Great for its price
The fire-safe is really waterproof. In fact the seal is so good I need to knee on the box and pull up at the same time to get it open. The outside of the box is slippery. It would be nice to have a handle. Size is great, price super, does the job.

Caffe Verona

needs improvement…flaws
This looks good on advertisements…however…takes too long to recharge, I have 1.5 acres and the battery needs to be charged three times to finish. Extra battery costs over $50.00 to buy as backup…spindle cover on bottom of line spool is too thin and has already split. It trims alright, however the line is suppose to advance itself every time you turn it on. It never advances the full length to the cutter, it has to be pulled out by hand. Nice idea, not made well enough(battery doesn’t last long, too long to charge, spool cover too thin, handle already starting to fray after 2.5 months of use. If you have the money to waste do it. Otherwise wait til they improve the existing model.
