I really enjoyed this movie as it is the beginning of the hilarious BBC series. It was an safe movie and gave a shrimp extra info about how the cast came to be at Grace Brothers Department Store. It was fairly amusing but of course not as humorous as episodes in some of the following seasons. Well worth buying,and got it mercurial.
After 5 seasons on BBC Are You Being Served, following the misadventures of the staff of a London department store leapt to the immense cloak, and fell flat on it’s face.

A uncouth point of British film they were fair making successful TV shows into movies, some worked, most didn’t. In this case they were expanding on an concept from the TV display where the staff are told they will have to win a vacation together. The jam with the film is two fold.
First the actors are out of their usual element and while trying the jokes and routines seemed forced, the status up, a revolution breaks out in the banana republic to which they’ve gone, is so stupidly over the top that you can’t suspend disbelief.

Secondly the production values are awful. What works in a TV display, a place of a department store, does not when you’re told you’re looking at a hotel in the tropics. I was reminded of sets from the passe Carol Burnett variety demonstrate, and I’d like to apologize to Ms. Burnett for the likeness.
Overall this was nothing but a money grab, playing on the popularity of Are you Being Served the producers grabbed beloved characters and instead of taking advantage of the longer playing time and possible production capablities to develop a clean episode, one feels they did the thing on the cheap and the characters suffer by comparrison.
I appreciate Are You Being Served and it’s sequal, Grace and Favor, AKA Are You Being Served Again, but this is so not worth it. It is not up to the standard of the prove or the ability of the actors. Go contemplate the episode where they understanding a holiday together. You’ll have as many laughs as this gives you and build and hour or so of time.
